The Samsung Odyssey Ark (2nd Gen) is a massive 55-inch 4K curved display that’s hard to ignore, literally and figuratively—especially now that it’s down to $1,799 from $2,999. Its 1000R curvature makes the screen feel even larger, and its built-in surround sound reportedly enhances the immersive gaming experience. That said, if you’re into colorful setups, there’s no RGB lighting, though its subtle eclipse light gives it an understated glow.
PCMag’s detailed review of the Samsung Odyssey Ark highlights that its VA panel offers deep blacks and enhanced contrast, though it lags behind IPS panels when it comes to color accuracy. This might not be a dealbreaker for gaming, but if you’re working with color-sensitive tasks, it could be disappointing. On the bright side, its 3,840×2,160 pixel resolution display, Quantum mini LEDs and 165Hz refresh rate are excellent specs, with its matte finish helping to cut down on glare. And, while the Ark’s input lag is low, reviewers note it may not be quite low enough for serious competitive gamers. However, the ability to split the large screen into four virtual monitors and/or switch it to portrait mode is a multitasker’s dream—you can game, stream, browse, and watch TV all at once.
Another good option
If this monitor sounds like overkill for your needs, the Vizio M50QXM-K01 at $448 might be a solid budget-friendly alternative. It’s smaller and less immersive but might be just right for a more modest setup.
