Having a reliable portable charger can be the difference between having a fun 8-hour flight experience and one where you’re forced to ponder your own mortality. There are a ton of options to choose from, but my personal favorite, which I’ve been using for years, is currently over 50% off. The INIU 22.5W portable charger is $19.99 (originally $43.97) after a 55% discount at Woot. You can also get a two-pack for $10 more, a 66% discount.
The Woot deal goes on until March 21, 2024, at 2:59 a.m. ET or until the power banks run out. If you have Amazon Prime, you get free shipping; otherwise, it’ll be $6 to ship. (Heads up, though: Woot only ships to the 48 contiguous states in the U.S.)
The INIU portable charger has 22.5 W output, a battery capacity of 20,000mAh, and it can charge up to three devices at the same time. It has charged my Nintendo Switch, cell phone, and headphones simultaneously over many long international flights without letting me down. It has two USB out ports and one USB-C in and out port, so it’s compatible with iPhones and iPads. It takes about 40 minutes to charge my Pixel 6a to full battery, and it can do this at least three times before it needs to be recharged.
The LED display shows you the battery life it has left, and it also has a flashlight (though I’ve never really used it). I’ve dropped the INIU multiple times over the years, even in the shower once, but it has never let me down. It also comes in a nice mesh bag that makes it easy to carry (and likely has protected it from the many falls).
Don’t expect to carry around this portable charger comfortably in your pocket though. It measures 5.3 by 2.8 by 1.1 inches and weighs 12.3 ounces (almost a pound). So it’s about the size of a small smartphone, but heavy and thick, like three phones stacked up.
