At its annual Google I/O developer event, Google announced a new AI model called Gemini 1.5 Flash—and it’s now available in our Google AI Studio (Gemini) integration. They also demoed some podcasting workflows with Zapier to show off Gemini’s multimodal features.
Here’s how you can recreate every example from Google I/O—no code required—and automate your work with Gemini 1.5 Flash and Zapier.
Note: Google 1.5 Flash (and Pro) are currently available in public preview.

What’s new: Gemini 1.5 Flash
Gemini 1.5 Flash is the latest addition to Google’s Gemini family of large multimodal AI models (LMMs). It can handle narrow tasks at a high frequency—such as categorizing a large number of new leads at once—and promises a faster response time than Gemini 1.5 Pro.
According to Google, Gemini can process various types of information and generate more intelligent results without switching to a different model. For example, you can send an audio file to Gemini and ask it to write a message describing its content.
Now, with even more options in Gemini, you can choose the right AI model for your needs.
How to get started with Google AI Studio (Gemini)
With our Google AI Studio (Gemini) integration, you can harness the power of Gemini within Zaps to automate your work even further.
Here’s how to set it up:
-
Log in to your Zapier account, and go to your Apps page.
-
Click + Add connection, then search for and select Google AI Studio (Gemini).
-
You’ll be asked to provide an API key. Open a new browser tab, and make sure you’re signed into your Google account.
-
Then, create an API key within Google AI Studio and copy it to your clipboard.
-
Toggle back to your Zapier tab, paste your API key, and click Continue.
Now, you’re ready to create Zaps with Google AI Studio (Gemini)!
For example, if you caught the Google I/O keynote, they showed how Gemini could scan audio for unwanted filler words like “uh’s” and “um’s” and then send those timestamps to a spreadsheet.
You can do this too. Try our Shared Zap and create your own AI production assistant to take your editing notes.
More podcast automation ideas
Plenty of AI tools are available for content creators. Still, the latest generation of LMMs, such as Google Gemini, promises to unlock more possibilities for automating high-effort, creative production processes like podcasting.
With Google AI Studio (Gemini) and Zapier, you can ease the demands of podcast production to build an audience.
Here’s how:
To get started with a Zap template—what we call our pre-made workflows—just click on the button. It only takes a few minutes to set up. You can read more about setting up Zaps here.
Hand off editing notes
Once you have editing notes ready, you can automatically notify your team so they can get a jump start on audio editing. Try these Zaps:
Repurpose content for short-form video
The truth about creative work: By the time you’ve finished a project, you’re sick of it. The same is true once you’ve edited and published a podcast episode. But you still have to pick some clips to promote your work.
Use the Zap below, and Google AI Studio will suggest a 30-second clip you can use for a YouTube Short. Feel free to tweak the prompt for TikTok and Instagram Reels or knock out all three platforms at once!
Create multi-platform social media campaigns
You put a lot of effort into your podcasts, so your social media distribution should spotlight your content—while also catering to what works well for each platform.
Google AI Studio can help you craft engaging social media posts to market your podcast on specific platforms. Try these Zaps and automatically generate draft social content that captures the essence of your latest episode, optimized for your chosen platforms.
When you test the Zaps, feel free to adjust the prompts so that any generated posts match your brand’s voice and tone.
Save production time without sacrificing quality
Whether you’re a seasoned podcaster or dreaming of starting your own, automation and AI can help you keep the creativity flowing.
