What I want to do today is connect our Outlook and Notion apps so that when we receive an email in Outlook, it’ll automatically be uploaded onto our selected Notion page.

In order to get started with this workflow, I’ll need to create a Zap. I can do this by clicking the Create Zap button on the left-hand side of the screen. Once I do this, I’ll need to set up a trigger because I want my Outlook emails to be posted on my Notion page.
I’ll need to use Outlook as my trigger. I can find the app by typing it into the search bar and clicking below. The trigger screen will then pop up.
I should click New Email as my event, and then click Continue. The first time we set up a trigger, you will need to authenticate the app with Zapier. A link will pop up for you to log into your Outlook account. Don’t worry though, it’s totally safe because Zapier uses bank level encryption.
I don’t have a shared inbox, so I’m going to leave this next section blank. So I’ll click Continue, then Test trigger, and I’m all set with the first step. Click Continue, and we can start creating our action.
Type in Notion in the search bar and select it from the dropdown menu. Next click Create Database Item and click Continue.
From there, I can select our account and authenticate Notion with Zapier, just like I did with my Outlook account. I’m going to give Zapier access to all of my pages, but with Notion, you can choose which ones you want to connect. Click Continue, and it’s time to set up the parameters of our action.
I want my Outlook email to come up on my calendar of events page, so I’ll select Calendar of Events. Under the Database section, I’ll select Subject as my subject of email and Sender email address name in the dropdown menu in the Sender field.
Next, I’ll select False in the Use Datetime instead of Date? field because I only want the date listed on my Notion page.
I’ll scroll down to the Start Date/time field and click Received Date/time. Set the property as True, and click Continue.
Next, click Test and review, and let’s see if this works. Yep, there it is. This is ready to turn on. Now, anytime you receive an email in Outlook, it’ll automatically come up on the Notion page. Want to try it yourself? Click on the Zap template below to get started.
