Best Buy Drops is Best Buy’s in-app feature that gives you access to deep discounts that are only good for a limited time, or until stock runs out (most deals don’t last past 5 p.m.).

Today, Best Buy Drop features a three-pack of TP-Link Tapo 2K Indoor/Outdoor Cameras for $149.99 (originally $299), which is the cheapest I’ve seen after checking at price-comparison tools. (For reference, the same cameras dropped to $199.99 in March.)

Note: You’ll need to have the app downloaded on your phone and click the link above to be redirected to it to see the correct price; otherwise, you’ll be taken to the Best Buy website, where the price is still $299.99.

You need the app to get this deal

As of Thursday, April 4 at 11 a.m. ET, the Tapo security cameras are available to all shoppers who have the Best Buy app. As I explain in this post about the Best Buy Drops program, you will need to make an account and navigate to the “Drops” tab to see the Tapo security cameras. Once you see the deal, click the “add to cart” button, which puts you in the queue to for a chance to buy them. Depending on how popular the product is, waiting in line can take minutes to hours. These Drop deals are exclusive to the app, so don’t expect them to show up on the website or in stores.

These camera don’t require a subscription

Although the TP-Link cameras don’t require a subscription for most of their features, they do offer one starting at $10.49 per month for three cameras if you want to get snapshot previews and certain notifications. These cameras are battery-powered and should last up to 300 days without replacement (depending on use). They record in 2K with 2560 by 1440 resolution, have your choice of cloud storage or local storage, include color night vision, two-way audio, a siren alarm, can be used indoors or outdoors with a weatherproof IP-66 rating, and have an ultra-wide 150-degree field of view. They are compatible with Google Home and Alexa as well.
